PARTNER LETTER OF SUPPORT

A brighter future is within our reach. It’s up to us to come together to make it possible.

The future we choose brings Oregonians together and injects new energy into the heart of Portland. A future with a growing economy, a vibrant community, and a revitalized central city—a future we cannot imagine without the Trail Blazers calling Portland home for years to come.

In 2026, Oregon leaders have the chance to take action to secure the long-term future of Moda Center.

For over 50 years, the Trail Blazers have been a central part of Oregon’s economy and identity. It’s time to elevate our city’s strengths—authentic people and innovative businesses—and make the Trail Blazers a key part of Portland’s comeback story.

It starts with a reimagined Moda Center that is as uniquely Oregon as the people who call Rip City home.

The Trail Blazers’ incoming ownership group is making a more than $4.2 billion investment in our city, county, and state. Today, we ask state and local government partners to match that commitment by investing in Moda Center.

This is bigger than basketball. Moda Center is Oregon’s busiest entertainment venue and one of the state’s most important gathering places. A publicly-owned arena, Moda Center and the Trail Blazers generate $670 million in regional economic activity each year, attracting over 1.6 million visitors and supporting over 4,000 jobs.

But this is about more than an arena—it’s about the people who gather here. Moda Center brings people together for concerts, basketball games, rodeos, family shows, cultural events, and more. It’s a place where lifelong memories are made, and first impressions of Portland are formed.

Investing in Moda Center is a long-term commitment that supports small businesses, working families, and the entire Oregon economy. It will spark job growth and economic development, delivering a win-win for our region.

The Trail Blazers have a history of deep community impact, using their platform to help people in need and uplift communities whose voices are often overlooked. Since 2009, the Trail Blazers and the Trail Blazers Foundation have donated more than $19 million to nonprofit organizations in communities across the region. During the 2024-25 season, players, coaches, and staff spent more than 1,350 hours volunteering for more than 40 organizations.

Partnering with the Albina Vision Trust, the Trail Blazers are working to support community-led restorative development in the Albina neighborhood—a partnership united by a fundamental belief that business and community can work together to solve our city’s biggest problems. A Moda Center renovation can be a centerpiece of those efforts to revitalize the neighborhood as the residential and cultural heart of Portland.

The Trail Blazers are national leaders in sustainability. Moda Center was the first existing NBA arena to become LEED Platinum certified, and the Trail Blazers have led the nation with innovations like their reusable cup program, which has eliminated more than 1 million single-use cups since 2023. A renovated Moda Center can be more than a sustainable entertainment venue—it can be a part of a community vision for shared climate resilience.

At a time when Portland’s construction market has slowed, a Moda Center renovation will support thousands of good-paying jobs for workers in Oregon’s building trades, creating workforce development opportunities for lasting community benefit.

Portland is one of only 28 cities in North America with an NBA team and, starting in 2026, Moda Center will be the home court of our new WNBA franchise, the Portland Fire. In 2030, Moda Center will host the NCAA Women’s Final Four—the largest sporting event to ever come to Portland. As one of only 28 markets with an NBA team—the world’s most globally unified professional sports league—the Portland Trail Blazers serve as a yearround beacon of strength, relevance, and prosperity for Portland and Oregon, connecting our community to audiences across the United States and around the globe.

To have a renovated Moda Center ready to showcase our city and state to the world, phased construction needs to begin in the summer of 2027 and continue over the next three years.

We must seize this generational opportunity in front of us.

Together, we can build the future for Portland and for Oregon that we want to see, for this generation and those to come. Renovating Moda Center is about more than updating an arena—it’s about building a thriving future for people across Portland, and all of Oregon.
